Step 1: Download and Install MacroView DMF 365

Step 2: Activate your MacroView DMF 365 license

  • Double-click on the MacroView DMF icon on your desktop – MacroView DMF Explorer will start.
  • In the File menu, choose Options and go to the Servers tab.
  • Click Add – the Server dialog will display.

  • In the Server Type drop-down select SharePoint Online (Office 365).
  • In the Server Name box enter a display name for your Office 365 Tenancy. This will appear as a new top-level node in the Browse mode of MacroView DMF. Note: You must have at least read access to the entered server path to activate the license.
  • In the Server Path box enter the path to your SharePoint Online (Office 365) Tenancy.
  • License Status will display as Unlicensed.
  • Click Activate – the MacroView Licensing website will open.

  • Login with your Office 365, Microsoft or Google account.
    • MacroView recommends using a non-employee-specific account (e.g. admin@ or other group account) as the same account will need to be used for all subsequent activations of the license.
    • You will be prompted by the relevant account provider to trust the MacroView Licensing site.  You must grant this access in order to register the account.
  • Click Sign in
  • The Activate License page will load.

  • Enter the License Key (supplied by MacroView).
  • Click Next – The products linked to the entered license key will be listed.
  • Select DMF 365 and click Next.
  • The confirmation page will load.
  • Check the details and click Finish.
  • The Licenses Summary page will load.

  • Return to the Server dialog in MacroView DMF Explorer.
  • Click Recheck to confirm that the newly added Tenancy is licensed – License Status will display a green Licensed indicator if it is.

Step 3: Install MacroView Sample Libraries

Streamline your evaluation of MacroView DMF 365 by installing two sample document libraries that already contain the custom metadata columns required for automatic recording of metadata as you save email messages and documents. The libraries also contain some sample documents.

The content types in these sample libraries will be available for inclusion in other document libraries within the same Site Collection.

  • Download the MacroView Sample Library Utility and install it on your PC.
  • Double-click on the MacroView Sample Library Utility icon on your desktop – the tool will load.
  • Enter the URL of the SharePoint Online Site where you would like the MacroView sample libraries to be created.
  • Click Create.
    • If the nominated Site is a Team Site and you have Edit rights (this is a typical security configuration) the two sample libraries will be created. If your account does NOT have adequate permission the Sample Library Utility will display an informative message.
    • The three Content Types used in these sample libraries will be added to the Site Collection that contains that Site.  You can then use these Site Content Types in your own libraries.
    • If you click Advanced you will see details of the site Content Types and sample libraries, and if necessary change titles for the sample libraries.
  • Follow these steps to define the Search Managed Properties that are required to get results when you use the Keyword Search and Email Search panels that have been installed as part of MacroView DMF.  Note that to perform these steps you will need administrator rights to your SharePoint Online account.
